Our friendly and approachable staff work to create a judgment-free atmosphere, so you can feel zen from the time you walk into the door, throughout the duration of your appointment, and even on the way home.
Founded by Dr. Abby Dew, we love to give our patients more reasons to smile.
Foundation
Dr. Abby Dew grew up just outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she shined in both sports and academics. From a young age, Abby seemed destined for her future career. Her first science fair project was showing her class how to fix a cavity using a loaf of bread as a tooth and a tub of frosting as filling material. Throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school, Abby maintained a singular career aspiration—to become a dentist. She required extensive dental work as a child and young adult which sparked her passion for both the art and science of dentistry.
Focus
After graduating with high honors from Michigan State University with a degree in Physiology, Abby attended the top dental school in the United States (and #3 in the world!), the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. While maintaining the unenviable position as a Spartan in Ann Arbor, she excelled both academically and clinically, graduating near the top of her class.
Abby spent about a year practicing in Lansing, Michigan, before she and her husband decided to escape the snow and to plant roots in their adopted hometown of Savannah, Georgia.
Over the 15 years during which she has practiced in Savannah, Abby developed a strong patient following ranging in age from toddlers to seniors, with diverse backgrounds and careers including stay-at-home moms, musicians, TV personalities, chefs, architects, and retired professional athletes. Encouraged by her family, friends, and patients, Abby decided to make the leap to open her own dental practice in 2021.
Founding
Abby’s vision for her practice was to create a calm, welcoming sanctuary for dental wellness. In deciding on its name, she wanted something that embodied safety, security, and tranquility. Abby quickly embraced the concept of a harbor. A harbor is a protective area. Once a ship is within its limits, all who dwell there have a feeling of being cared for and watched after, especially from the outside storms. The name Dental Harbor reflects this inviting, gentle, secure approach to patient care.
As an independent owner-dentist, Abby takes pride in delivering the highest levels of cosmetic and restorative care and investing in advanced dental technology. She continues to pursue advanced training from the top dental educators in the world, including regular coursework at the prestigious Spear Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Abby is a member of the American Dental Association, the Georgia Dental Association, and the Southeastern District Dental Society, and serves as a member of the Clinical Advisory Board of Brasseler USA, a leading endodontic and restorative brand.
She was recognized as Connect Savannah’s 2021 Best Dentist and Savannah Magazine’s 2021 Runner-Up Best Cosmetic Dentist.
Family
Beyond her work at Dental Harbor, Abby is a wife to her college sweetheart, Ryan, and a proud mother to Knox, Elin, and Nash. Their family loves to spend time together and explore their home base of Skidaway Island, Georgia.
